I was getting tired of having our 2 year old son throw ALL his toys out of his toy box to find toys all the way at the bottom, so I decided to look at organizers to see what I could find. I knew that I wanted something like this because a friend had one so many years ago. I looked at the wooden ones and just felt that they wouldn't last (with crayons, stickers, etc) and if it had fallen down on our son, it would probably do some damage. So I looked at plastic ones. I found the Step 2 one around the price of the wooden ones but once I read how big, or should I say small, the bins where there really wasn't any point in even trying that one out.I saw this one while searching, but with the price, I just skipped over it. Then my husband got on here and found it again, so I decided to take a closer look. It is all plastic and with metal bars for the bins to sit on. Also, the bins looked bigger and thicker than the other ones I was looking at (the wooden ones). I wanted to know the size of the bins, so I went to their website and they are literally double the size of the Step 2 ones. Also, after reading that the company made their stuff for SCHOOLS; how could I go wrong?! Did I like the price of it? No, but you pay for what you get as the saying goes so we decided to give it a go.About a week later the box showed up and I just couldn't wait for my husband to help put it together (it recommends 2 people). I was able to put it together myself with step 1 (putting the bars in the one side) being the only difficult part. The metal bars are 3/4th of the way covered by a plastic covering and were attached to the sides by these plastic headed "hex" strews (they give you a tool for it) which were easy to put in once you push the metal bars all the way up into the covering. You have to be careful about tightening them too tight because they will "pop" and loosing (over screwed, jump a thread or whatever). I decided to have the opening to the metal bars be towards the floor since the instructions did not specify and it seemed like the best choice. Once step 1 is done, you repeat for step 2 then put the little legs on at the bottom (each leg has 2 washers and screws which you will need a phillips for). That was it! Took me about 15-20 minutes by myself, so if you follow the recommendation for 2 people, you should get it done in like 10! lolI am soo glad that I got the 4 tier one, because of the bigger bins that it comes with and how tall it is. Our son is 34 inches tall and has no issues getting things out of the top row (he is basically as tall as the product itself). I am not sure if I would have been so pleased with this product if I had only gotten the 3 tier because of only getting the smaller bins and that my son would be taller than it already. The ONLY issues I have had with it, is that it is light so our son is able to pull it out from the wall on our rug. It has not fallen over yet, but our son hasn't tried (but it would be easy to tether to the wall if need be) and our son would have to take hold of the top bar and lean back to get it to lean over to fall. The other thing is that, you can't put taller things in the lower bins (over the top of the bins) because of not being able to take out the toys or bins without difficulty but that is basically common sense so yeah. My husband and I will most likely be getting a second one down the line for our son's room (that one WILL be tethered since there won't be supervision all the time).I have posted pictures also.Picked this up for my Grandson's toys. I usually make male members of the household assemble stuff like this but I was able to assemble it with no issues in about 10 minutes. No tools are need, they include a bolt screw tool in with the hardware but be warned...it is the same blue plastic as the bolts and I thought for a few minutes that I didn't have it. Even though the tool is plastic it works great and is quite clever. My only critique on assembly: the support bars are solid on three sides and on the fourth side you see that a round metal bar is sitting inside the casing...nowhere in the instructions does it tell you which way the bar side should face. I figured it was to hold the lip of the bins and made them all face up and it seems to be working out just fine...but the instructions should be clearer. This is not a big unit and the bins are small, but it does hold a lot and the size is perfect for a toddler to access. Read the dimensions carefully to avoid confusion and disappointment. My niece's son has a very expensive traditional toy box that he hates because he's afraid of the lid. These smaller bins make finding toys easier than digging through a huge box, especially for a toddler and it makes clean up easier for a toddler too so you more likely to get them in the good habit of cleaning up their toys.I don't need a second one...yet, but when I do I won't hesitate to get a second unit. It seems pricey but after assembling and seeing the unit I feel I got good value for my money.UPDATE: Three years later I still love this unit! As my grandson grows and I replace toys I thought I would need another unit but this one still holds all his toys. He loves this unit and sometimes will just take a bin out to play with the contents. The unit is easy to keep clean, still looks brand new. I'm glad I spent extra on this unit as I don't think I will need to replace it anytime soon. This is a very sturdy item. Easy to assemble. I did it on my own and it didn’t take long. Only issue was one of the rails wasn’t lined up fully so had to instal that one upside down. Doesn’t impact on the use and the boxes cover it anyway so no one would know. It was just a bit annoying. I would buy this again and would recommend it to others.Beautiful sturdy unit. Perfect for a nursery select your own resourcesMateriales excelentes para uso rudo por niños. I have had many toy organizers (Mother of 5) and this one has been the best! This organizer is very sturdy and worth every penny. It is well made and so far has stood up to my toddlers Shinanigans. I’m also impressed that it will be useful after it is no longer used for toys.
